Paper Installation
During festival season in Mallorca; many installations are created, one which particularly inspired me was this paper hanging installation. It hung over a square of around 18 meters in height and length. Each row consisted of a piece of string and multiple lengths of paper hanging from this string around 20cm long and doubled over.
The way the paper is repeated creates an interesting delicate structure; seeing many small delicate pieces attached together creates a fragile effect because when you properly look you can see how thin the paper is but as a united form the installation looks very strong and solid.

Andrew Barton Hair Group
Last week I visited the Andrew Barton Hair Group; focusing on professional hair care for affordable prices a new collection has recently been launched called 'Naturally Collection'.
The range is naturally inspired, paraben-free, salon professional and has great results.
Products that caught my eye were the Orchid Flower & Aloe Vera shampoo and conditioner for dry hair; designed to rehydrate hair laving it smooth, shiny and smelling lovely for only £2.99/400ml bottle of Shampoo and £2.99/225ml Conditioner!
Another product that inspired me was the Colour PROtect hair mask, with around 60% of the female population having dyed hair this is a must to keep hair enriched with CCC, Argan oil and white willow to maintain reflective, nourished qualities without weighing the hair down.
My favourite product created by Barton is the 'Hold It Right There Gel Grip Styling Brush'. I have been trialling this for a week and it has been great, I usually use a tangle teaser but this brush has quickly become my favourite. The gel handle moulds around you hand to keep a comfortable grip and the spaced out plastic bristles prevent hair from being broken. This gentle brush is ideal for someone who is on the go and doesn't have time to comb and brush their hair as it does two jobs in one with an amazing result and only £8.00!
Andrew Barton has worked with styled celebrities such as The Olsen Twins, Eva Longoria and Juliette Lewis and appears as a hair expert on "10 Years Younger" on YouTube so make sure you don't miss out on his ranges exclusively found in Asda Stores Nationwide (0800 952 0101)

Royal Academy Summer Exhibtion
I recently went to the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of the Arts. The exhibition was inspiring because there was such an interesting variety of artists. It made me think about interesting collaborations in art and how collaborations could occur more between the disciplines within Art and Fashion.
I was particularly interested in several works and artists I saw.
Oliver Clegg's work 'R for Rented' was a teddy bear painted on a beer crate. I found his use of unusual materials unique and his painting had an interesting message and depth, which made me stop to try to understand what he was expressing.
Here is some of his other work:

This oil painting; 'Portrait of Sir Terry Frost' is by Neil Shawcross. I absolutely love this painting because it's calm. It has a wise grandfather figure and reminding to have the important values at heart in life.
Tessa Edwards
I have recently been interning with Designer Tessa Edwards. Edwards is a great upcoming British Fashion Designer whose designs are very conceptual and avant-garde. Currently setting up her own brand featuring clothing, jewellery and shoes; Tessa has a clear vision of what she wants to achieve and was very inspiring to work with.
After graduating from CSM doing Fashion Design, Edwards went to Paris interning for Anne Valerie Hash and spent some time at Dior where she learnt a lot and began to realise her own vision. Tessa began her brand two years ago now and since interning there last year it's amazing to see how much the brand has developed and grown. Seeing the Tessa Edwards brand during setting up stages has been a very helpful and exciting experience for me and enhanced my understanding of many aspects in the fashion world such as professionalism and PR but most importantly of what a brand really means and how important this is.
Tessa Edwards also has an huge passion for film making; Edwards makes films to create a World and express the essence of her collections, I think the video's aid the visual presentation of her work very well as the audience can understand the meaning of the work and this can sometimes work much better than a lookbook or row of clothes for Tessa's vision.

Minki Cheng - The 6th Ally
I found Cheng at the CSM degree show; I think the way he creates 3Dimensional structure and creates a texture using plastic shapes in repeat is very inspiring and relates closely to the work of Viktor and Rolf and Tessa Edwards.

There are so many types of sunglasses exploring different characters; I think the sunglasses someone wears says a lot about their personality. Although you cannot see someones eyes, you can learn a lot about someone from their sunglasses. Colour choice, shape, links to films and celebrities, depth of shade, thickness, materials used, patterns, general style.
